Our Story
Where We Started
Northern Lights Estate Winery (NLEW), a division of Family Fast Foods Ltd., started construction in 2013 with the intention of becoming BC’s most northern winery. Built on the banks of the Nechako River, at the base of Prince George’s famous cutbanks, we opened our doors in 2015 and quickly grew to be BC’s largest fruit winery. Much of this property produces the fruit that you’ll find in our wines including gooseberries, raspberries, apples, rhubarb, black currants, cherries, and blueberries. Our wines are proudly crafted using only BC-grown fruits both from our farms and our partner farms across the province
Our History
Family Fast Foods Ltd. was incorporated in 1988 and quickly became involved in a number of businesses across a variety of industries including trucking, farms and food service. The group, which was founded by Pat and Brenda Bell and includes other partners in the area, currently owns and operates the Wendy’s franchises, Northern Lights Estate Winery, and Hobby Brews in Prince George, BC. The group is committed to working with local charity organizations to give back as much as possible to the community in the North. In the spirit of this philosophy, Family Fast Foods Ltd. has donated over $500,000 to local charities and organizations since its inception
Where We Are Now
Starting out with our community roots and values, Northern Lights has grown far beyond being just a winery. Additions of the Bistro, tasting room, and events services have helped us offer the best experience for every guest who walks through our doors
Situated along the banks of the Nechako River, guests can enjoy a truly unique tasting experience in our Wine Shop, where we proudly showcase locally made goods from artisans around British Columbia
For the foodies, enjoy internationally-inspired light fare to pair with a flight of wine, local craft beer, or hand-made cocktails. During the summer months, enjoy the same beautiful orchard and river views from our outside patio dining area. All ages are welcome, and encouraged, to join us in the Bistro
